Praise & Prayer

  • Pray for five men who left their respective recoveries prematurely.  The lure of spring and/or the clarion call of ‘friends’ was found too difficult to ignore, yet all five have wonderful potential.  The Lord knows their names, but we will use first 5 letters of the alphabet:

“A” is older and has deep health issues.  Physical life is tough.   “B” is young, recently baptized and on fire for the Lord.  We miss him and hope he stays on track and is safe.   “C” is a super nice guy and his early departure is bewildering.   “D” has wrestled for years and was in such a great place spiritually.  Working physically hard he reached for strength and energy to the wrong source.   “E” has been through so much. (In fact, all five have deep traumas in life.)  This man was scheduled to serve the Lord in a place of refuge.  Please fervently pray that these men find the strength to be humble and desire to walk with the Lord, above all else!  We love each one.

  • Pray for our upcoming Radio-thon hosted by CHVN 95.1 F.M.  There will be two 12 hour slots from 6am to 6pm, on June 16th & 17th.  We will be focussing on celebrating God and the work He is doing at UGM.  We simply want to use the time to bring glory to His Name.  Please pray that we are successful in honouring the Lord.

  • Praise God for continued protection from the virus among our homeless and street people. They have enough to deal with, without stressing over the pandemic.

  • Pray for sustained courage and endurance for the men and women in addiction recovery.  Traumatic and tragic as their past has been, the enemy tries hard to lure them back.

  • Praise God for opportunities to share with the world that we at UGM do not only survive, but also thrive as God takes care of us.  Recently a grant organization asked us how we fund all our ministries out of four locations.  We could boast in the Lord, that He provides for all our needs, mostly through our wonderful Church family in and around Manitoba.  Thank you Lord!

Vision 20/20

Union Gospel Mission is requesting funding to upgrade or replace aging operational equipment. This investment will increase the quality of services to those we serve and will help to reduce maintenance costs, allowing us to put more donor money back into our seven ministries.

Here are the projects to prayerfully keep in mind:

  - Replace Phone System

Purchase a new phone system to be used in all four buildings.  The current system is unreliable and unprofessional.

      Estimated cost - $ 10,000

  - Replace Beds and mattresses

Replace aging beds and mattresses for men's dorm.

       Estimated cost - $ 12,000

   Replace 5 ton Truck

Purchase a new 5 ton truck which is used for picking up clothing from around southern Manitoba.  This clothing is given out to those we serve through various ministries.

       Estimated cost - $ 90,000

   Replace photocopier

Replace aging photocopier at 320 Princess St. office.

       Estimated cost - $ 14,000

   Upgrade 20 Computers

Replace 20 very slow computers

       Estimated cost - $ 16,000

   Replace Digital Sign

Replace current digital sign as some portions do not work

       Estimated cost - $ 40,000

Fundraising Strategy that will Fund the above Expenses

  • We look to raise the funds through private foundations, the church community, businesses and private donations. Over 85% of Union Gospel Mission’s income comes from individuals, churches and foundations donations.
  • With all funding, we will be working with suppliers to receive the best prices possible when having to purchase new items. In some cases, we will be working with a business supporter of the Mission to purchase items below cost.

Note: Spending of funds is confined to Board Approved Programs and Purchases. Each gift designated toward an approved program will be used as designated, with the understanding that when any given need has been met, or cannot be completed for any reason determined by the Board, designated gifts will be used where needed most. Gifts are acknowledged and receipted with an official receipt for income tax purposes.
