Praise & Prayer

  • Pray for safety for the men who serve in the ‘Bubble” (front office of 320 Princess).  Doors are open 24/7 to serve our street guests.  Pray for discernment, courage, compassion, wisdom and protection.  We sadly have seen an increase in violence and increase in drug use this summer.

  • Pray for drug addicted Gideon, who has been an abuser of his own body for over 50 years. 2 Peter 3:9 NKJV says, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance”.

  • Praise the Lord that Marco has returned to the addiction recovery program.  Pray that the good work the Lord has begun in him and our other residents become fulfilled.

  • Pray for homeless ladies, Megan, Danielle and Melissa.  They are so precious in Gods sight and we so desire to see them understand just how much the Lord loves them and how, in Him, they can be free to serve Him.  The beauty in these women is just waiting to come out for all the world to see!

  • Praise God for volunteers like Malachi, who since March 0f 2020 has been fearless and faithful in his outstanding service to the Lords work at our Mission.  He is a young man with a big heart.  We appreciate him!

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering during the COVID-19 Pandemic:

We want to be respectful and mindful of the recommendations of the provincial government of staying home during this time.  Having said that, we would still like to be able to serve people who are struggling with poverty and addiction.  Therefore, please prayerfully consider if God would have you volunteer at Union Gospel Mission at this time.  You must be in good health if you will be coming in to volunteer.

A couple of specific areas where we currently need volunteers are:

  • Helping to prepare lunch on Wednesdays at our Family Life Centre in the morning
  • Serving meals to the community at lunch and the evening soup line meal at our location on 320 Princess Street.

Below is a list of some of the volunteer opportunities for you as an individual, or for a group.

If any of these options interest you, you can email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.for more information.

For areas involving children, a current copy of your Child Abuse and Criminal Check will be required.  If this is unavailalbe, you will be required to fill out and pass the Manitoba Abuse Check and Criminal Check prior to volunteering with children.
