The Women’s Ministry at the Family Life Centre continues to minister to the women from the North End and the women that come in from the First Nation Reserves. The ministry has focused on discipleship, servanthood, dealing with everyday issues and learning to live the Christian life not on their own will power, but through the empowerment of God the Holy Spirit.
On Ladies Day Wednesday morning, there is a time of fellowship, praise and worship and then a Bible study for 30 – 60 women. The topics included salvation, foundational truths, women of the Bible and that Jesus gives purpose, satisfies and heals, and that Jesus was fully God and fully man. There was also seasonal theme Bible study and music at Christmas and Easter. After the Bible study, there is a time of prayer for the prayer requests handed in by the ladies. This year we have also included praying for two First Nations Reserves each week. Also on Wednesdays, there is a chapel service where chapel speakers minister to the ladies on various biblical teachings prior to having a full lunch served by our dedicated group of volunteers. Worship and praise is often incorporated into the chapel time. There is child care for under school-age children during the chapel service and the children join their mothers for the lunch.
On Tuesday and Thursdays, there are smaller Bible studies which gives more time for discussion, questions and dealing with spiritual needs. On Tuesdays last year, we taught on how Jesus prayed and many other aspects of prayer as well as we started studying the Book of Ephesians which reveals their “Identity in Christ” and how we as Christians ought to conduct ourselves.
The ministry also provides practical needs such as food bags, clothing for women and children, personal and household products, including blankets. Our prayer is to teach every soul that comes through the doors how to make Jesus head of their hearts and homes!!
