UGM is very thankful for the many Volunteers who serve the Lord through the Mission. We can honestly say that we would be unable to do what we do if it weren’t for our Volunteers. So, right from the top – thank you to all of you who help us out!
We are always looking for others to join us who are looking to Volunteer. Whether individually, or as part of a group, we can use your help! We have specific tasks that you can help us with, or you can tell us what your interests & strengths are, and we’ll find some opportunities for you.
Since we work with so many people who deal with addictions, or are affected by them, and because we desire to see everyone we work with come to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour, there are certain qualifications that a Volunteer must meet. They are –
- You need to be born again & passionate about living for God.
- You need to be a part of an evangelical Church.
- You need to agree with our Statement of Faith.
- You cannot be a smoker or user of illegal drugs.
- You cannot be a drinker of alcoholic beverages for most volunteer opportunities.
We realize that these qualifications may create a limitation of sorts, but the last thing that we want to see happen is to have Volunteers (and staff) derail the purposes of our Mission – to help people come to know Jesus Christ, and to find deliverance in Him. We acknowledge that our standard regarding the use of alcohol may be higher than Scriptural teaching. However, the vast percentage of people who look to us for help are dealing with addictions and their ravaging effects. To be of ‘maximum help’ to them, we have set this standard. Alcohol is a real weakness for so many in our ministry, that to use it would cause grounds for stumbling. We are, in a very real way, helping those that are ‘weaker’ and those yet to become believers. We seek to follow Romans 14:13-21 – not to judge others who disagree with our position, but to help those who desire to be freed from the devastation of addiction.
You can volunteer in one of 2 ways –
