1 Peter 1:1-2: “Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To the pilgrims of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.”
We have been re-vamping our sprinkler system outside at the Mission this
summer. With the summer heat, the well used green space around our building has been withering and growing discolored. It’s been trampled and littered upon throughout the spring and summer, a trend that will continue through the fall until snow comes. Like any lawn or grassy area, it takes maintenance and upkeep to ensure a vibrant and healthy life.
It’s an interesting parallel to our own lives and walk with King Jesus. Just like the water from our sprinkler system brings life and refreshment to our grass, we have been sprinkled and covered in the saving blood of Jesus our Lord and Savior. Everlasting and Eternal life has been granted to our mortal bodies. We can get weary and worn out in our daily walk. We get trampled on at times and are consistently being bombarded with the trash of the world every day. The heat of affliction and trials come and go, but Praise God that we can find grace and forgiveness in the Father’s eyes! We too can be strengthened, rejuvenated and kept healthy in mind, body and spirt by drawing close to Him.
