Gerald has been fighting cancer since last fall. This disease has weakened him a great deal and has caused other complications to his health. Despite all of this, with Gerald’s hope in Christ and the peace He provides, he remains strong. Gerald has told me on more than one occasion that if it was not for his relationship with Christ, he would not have been able to get through everything he has in the last few years.
Gerald has been in the Union Gospel Mission men’s addiction recovery program more than once. While in the program, he has had time to study the Bible. He has developed a relationship with Christ and has found the hope that he had been looking for. He is confident that if it was not for UGM, he may have died without knowing Jesus and all that He has for us in the gospel. Gerald says that the “peace that surpasses all understanding” which the apostle Paul talks about in Philippians chapter four, is all that he really needs now.
Many men come to UGM looking to get into our recovery program and many have done so. We pray that everyone who comes into our recovery program will be able to find that hope and peace in Christ, so that they can make it through the storms of life with Christ Jesus and not the destructive things of this world. May Gerald find healing in Christ physically, as we praise God for the healing that Gerald has found for his soul!
May the Lord do a similar healing of the heart for each of the men in the UGM recovery program.
