I came into the world through a pregnant mom that was drunk and on drugs. She got into a fight and was put into a coma and I was born by emergency c-section one month premature. I’ve had a lot of loss in my life. My older sibling died, and later my youngest sibling died of crib death. Once I was about 8 years old, I started to take care of my 2 younger siblings and protected them. I learned how to fight and protect. Things changed later on. I drank, did drugs and took advantage of women.
A few months ago, I met someone while getting a coffee. He told me about UGM and wanted to take me to a chapel service. It took me awhile for me to agree to go with him, but on Oct 23rd, Marcel brought me to UGM to attend a chapel service. I agreed to go to detox. It felt like my room was a jail cell. It was really wanting to leave, but Marcel kept encouraging me, telling me I could do this! I was playing scrabble with some guys in detox, and the letters to my first three words were Heaven, Clean and Love. That was blew my mind. I later came into the men’s program at UGM and made a decision to follow Christ.
- 1 Cor 15:33: Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
- Prov 15:12,13: Mockers resent correction, so they avoid the wise. A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.
