Praise & Prayer

  • Pray that many men and women would register with our Adult Education Centre to obtain their grade 12 education in a Christ centered environment.

  • Praise the Lord for our recent free give away and BBQ at the Family Life Centre.  We blessed the community with a variety of household items and gave away over 50 Bibles.

  • Pray that, in the last month of camp, children would open up their hearts and minds to a relationship with Jesus and commit their lives to follow Him.

  • Praise the Lord that at the Charis Centre we were able to have our first ever resident led praise and worship service, consisting of Bible reading, a skit and singing.  Jesus's name was lifted up and all the women in the recovery program were involved in the service.

Struggles - Men's Addiction

Psalm73_25-26

Joe has struggled with addictions for most of his adult life.  He has tried to overcome the addiction time and time again, but something would happen every time to pull him back into the addiction to drugs and alcohol.  Joe finally reached a point in his life where he was so sick and tired of the way he was living, he decided to come to Union Gospel Mission and surrender everything to Jesus.  He says that he is tired of sitting at home, feeling like a zombie all day long, because of the drugs.  Joe realized that was barely living and that the next step would be the grave.  So, he came to UGM because he knew that a Christ-centered recovery program was the only hope for gaining victory over his addictions.

In Psalm 73:25 the psalmist writes this about God, “Whom have I in heaven but you?  And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.”  Only the Holy Spirit connecting our hearts to Jesus can make us have such a desire.  When God in His mercy satisfies our souls with all that He is for us in His Son Jesus, only then are we are set free from the bondage to drugs, alcohol or anything else in this world.  That is what Joe wants for himself now.  I pray that is what God will give to all those who come to UGM seeking freedom in Jesus!
