Men's Program Field Trip
For the second year in a row, the residents and staff from UGM Men’s Recovery Program went on a fun outing to Gimli Bible Camp. The purpose of the trip was to enjoy the day in fellowship. The campgrounds were beautiful and the men quickly ventured out to the lake and the various activities around the main building. One resident moved in behind the piano and entertained us with his own compositions.
A highlight of the day was a lunch of fried pickerel and homemade fries. The main event was after lunch, with the baptism of one of our residents in the lake. Senior Chaplain Mark Kelm and Mario Grande bravely walked into the cold lake. After Mario confessed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior he was baptized. Great joy was expressed from Mario and the witnesses on the shore. We take great joy in seeing how God can change a drug addict into a new creation in Christ Jesus.
Later in the afternoon, the group had a devotional led by Chaplain Mark. He spoke about Lazarus, how Jesus brought him back from death to life. In reality, all of us are like Lazarus. We need Jesus to bring us from death to life in Him. Everyone at UGM wants to thank Gimli Bible Camp for the great food and fellowship! It was a Divine appointment.
