Justin's Story

Justin has been in the men’s recovery program at Union Gospel Mission for close to six months now.  He came to the Mission in June of 2016 after having lost his sobriety and having learned a hard lesson in trying to handle addiction and life without Christ.  Justin had been in the UGM program before and was doing well, until he decided that he could do it on his own.  Justin soon found that whenever we try to do life without Christ, life becomes a lot more difficult than it needs to be.  He started drinking again and needed to come back to the mission to get back onto the path of life with Christ again, instead of continuing to follow the path of destruction.

Jesus said in Matthew 11:30, “My yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  The weight of the yoke we carry without Jesus in our life makes the burden too much for us to carry alone.  Jesus wants to show us how to get through the stresses of life with Him.  Justin was tired of carrying the heavy yoke of his addiction and stress on his own and came back to UGM to learn how to let Jesus help him with it all.  Today, Justin is much happier and is an example to the other residents.  Praise God for the work He has done in Justin’s life!
