Unbelief is the opposite of faith, and a very powerful force. I’m thankful that the kids who attend the Family Life Centre drop-in program believe there is a God. That’s a good start, but it’s not enough to obtain eternal life. So, re-enforcement of God is a constant, and teaching about Jesus; who He is and how eternal life is obtained through Him, is an essential.
There is an undercurrent of unbelief in these little ones. But there is also a desire to believe. The children receive continuous Biblical teaching. This is accompanied by prayer. Prayer, of course, is not only fundamental, but also our duty. Let’s not neglect this requirement; let us do it with passion! The father of the demon possessed boy in the book of Mark exclaimed to Jesus, that which I pray will be exclaimed one day by the children at F.L.C.: “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief.” (Mark 9:24)
