There is a format that we follow at the Family Life Centre for the children’s drop-in program. First, there is playtime. Playtime is followed by a Bible lesson. Then finally, there is a snack just before dismissal. The other day, a little girl asked if we could skip the Bible lesson and just have the snack. That would be a lot easier for everyone. But the purpose in opening our doors to the kids is to teach them the Gospel. Aside from what they are taught at our drop-in, it’s doubtful that the kids who come here are exposed to any Biblical teaching whatsoever. It’s probable this is the only spiritual truth they are exposed to. So then, we actually provide the most important education they receive.
In this fallen world, resistance to the Gospel is always the norm; it’s to be expected. So, can we ever skip a Bible lesson and go right to the snack? We cannot; we will not; we should not. God expects the Gospel to be proclaimed. At times, it would be easier to just have the snack. But leaving Jesus, the Bread of Life, out of the conversation must not ever happen!
