I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
It is no small feat for anyone to complete a recovery program, but Kayla did just that and graduated on January 3rd from the Heart Program. For Kayla, it has not been an easy journey - ongoing health issues, chronic pain and the added burden of Charis Centre regulations. I have enjoyed her sense of humour and her good nature, but what I love most is she loves Jesus.
Kayla had been taken to Sunday School by her dad many years ago where the seeds were planted. Kayla’s first trip to Charis in 2015 allowed her to attend Alpha at a local church and it was there she accepted Christ as her Savior. The culmination came as we celebrated her grad.
Kayla is committed to her faith journey and she shares it with others. She has embraced different goals and a new plan for her future, which includes parenting her two beautiful daughters.
During this past year, there were battles to be endured and sometimes things looked bleak. We should not be shocked nor amazed that God answers prayer.
People ask, “What is your success rate?” Like beauty, success is defined by the beholder. Here would be my answer. Success at Charis Centre is getting up each morning and attending devotions and classes. It is also completing homework, going to Church, doing ministry assignments, following rules and all the while adhering to the directives of CFS or Probation Services. All of these plus more importantly, seeking to follow Jesus. With that definition, Kayla is indeed a success!!
