The Bible says in Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
One of our residents recently was experiencing a difficulty which was trying to rob him of his peace of mind. It seemed that a certain agency that he was dealing with was making the mistake of giving him too much money. This was causing our resident grief because he knew that one day he would be asked to return the over-payment. The resident no longer wanted to keep the money and try to get away with it. However, he was struggling with the self-discipline that would be required to avoid spending the money. He wanted to have the issue straightened out to avoid being put in the place of temptation and then paying for it later.
Try as he might, he could not connect with the proper authorities in order to make things right. His concern was mounting over the money he would have to return. Finally his concern boiled over and we decided to both pray that the Lord would intervene. Miraculously, within the next week, the agency contacted the resident, apologized for the mix up, took full responsibility for what had occurred and allowed him to keep the overpayment as a recompense for the distress they had caused him.
It pays to be honest and it pays to pray!!
